Kogei What the listing does not tell you

About

Kogei explains Japanese craft objects to people buying them from outside Japan — starting with the distinctions that cost money when they are missed.

What this site claims, and what it does not

It is written in Japan, by someone who has spent twenty years in manufacturing — metal, surfaces and finishing — which is useful background for reading how these pieces are made and why they fail. It is not a claim to be a craftsman or a tea specialist.

We do not own or test the pieces described here. Everything on this site is compiled from makers, specialist retailers and published sources, and those sources are listed on the page that uses them. Where sources disagree, the page says so rather than picking the tidier answer.

Commercial relationships

Some outbound links are affiliate links and may earn a commission at no cost to you. They never change what a page says, and no maker pays for placement or review here.
